XTheTXT PSA Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.
1. HOW TO ENTER
a. The XtheTXT PSA Contest will begin on Friday, March 1st and end on Friday, April 12th.
b. To participate in the contest, you must enter via the XtheTXT page under the community tab at www.kxan.com and complete the contest entry form including uploading a video. Video uploads cannot exceed 200MB and must have an exact length of 30 seconds. Files can be uploaded as .AVI, .MOV, .MP4, .MPEG, or .WMV. An entry consists of a video file and a completed entry form on KXAN.com. Anyone under the age of 18 submitting or appearing in a video must include consent forms signed by a parent or guardian as part of their entry. Incomplete entries may be disqualified. All entries must be received by the station no later than 11:59pm on Friday, April 12th, 2013.
c. The Station is not responsible for lost, stolen, mangled, misdelivered, illegible, incomplete or late entries. The Station is not responsible for Internet transmission errors, illegible entries, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent transmitting his/her entry.
d. Participants may not wear logos or include any type of music or other intellectual property for which participants lack appropriate clearances in their submission. Participants who use inappropriate language, imagery, nudity, or any other content deemed inappropriate by the Station may be disqualified.
e. One entry per person allowed.
2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS
a. The contest is open to all KXAN-TV viewers who are 16 years of age and up and live in the KXAN viewing area. For minors, parents/guardians of children under the age of 18 must submit the entries and claim any prizes. Minors may not enter the contest on their own - their submissions must be made by parents/guardians.
b. Employees of KXAN-TV (the “Station”), its licensee, its corporate parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, are ineligible to participate or win. Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.
3. PRIZES
a. One (1) winner will be chosen by a combination of station judges (51%) and public voting (49%).
b. The winning public service announcement will be professionally produced by KXAN and begin airing on or after June 30th, 2013 on KXAN-TV, KNVA-TV, and KBVO-TV on a schedule solely determined by KXAN. The winner will also receive a $100 Visa gift card.
c. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.
4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
a. All decisions made by KXAN-TV are final and binding.
b. Winners will be selected 51% by station judging input and 49% by online voting. Judging will be based on performance, camera enthusiasm, and creativity. In the event that an alternate is needed, alternates will be chosen from all remaining entrants on the same criteria.
d. All submissions will be screened prior to the voting process. Approved submissions will be available for voting starting Monday, April 15th at 12pm and end on Sunday, April 28th at 11:59pm. Voters will view all videos and vote for their favorite. Registration is not required to vote.
c. The winners will be selected no later than May 17th and notified via phone call or email.
d. Odds of winning depend on the number of persons submitting an entry.
5. CONDITIONS
a. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.
b. All participants agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, winners must sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize.
At any time during the contest, the Station in its sole discretion may require contest participants or winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold the Station, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, participating sponsors/promotional partners, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.
c. You must not be a candidate for public office.
d. All entries and recorded materials will not be returned to you whether or not you are selected as a winner. Any expenses you incur during the production process are your sole responsibility.
e. The Station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize, which will become effective upon announcement.
f. Failure to comply with the contest rules or the Station’s website Terms of Service may result in an entrant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of the Station.
g. The Station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
h. Copies of the written contest rules and a list of winners (when complete) are available during regular business hours at the main studio of KXAN-TV, 908 W. Martin Luther King Blvd., Austin, TX 78701.
