Buffington Homes Back to School Photo Contest
OFFICIAL RULES
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING.
1. HOW TO ENTER
a. The Buffington Homes Back to School Photo Contest will begin on Friday, August 23rd at 1:00pm and end on Sunday, September 15th at 11:59:59pm.
b. To participate in the contest, you must enter via the Only on KXAN page under the Contest tab at www.kxan.com and complete the contest entry form including uploading a photo. Files can be uploaded as .JPG or .JPEG. An entry consists of a photo and a completed entry form on KXAN.com. Incomplete entries may be disqualified. All entries must be received by the station no later than 11:59pm on Sunday, September 8th, 2013.
c. Participants may not wear logos or include any type of music or other intellectual property for which participants lack appropriate clearances in their submission. Participants who use inappropriate language, imagery, nudity, or any other content deemed inappropriate by the Station may be disqualified.
d. The Station is not responsible for lost, stolen, mangled, misdelivered, illegible, incomplete or late entries. The Station is not responsible for Internet transmission errors, illegible entries, service outages, delays, busy signals, equipment malfunctions and any other technological difficulties that may prevent transmitting his/her entry.
e. One entry per household allowed.
2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS
a. The contest is open to all KXAN-TV viewers who are 18 years of age and up and live in the KXAN viewing area. For minors, parents/guardians of children under the age of 18 must submit the entries and claim any prizes. Minors may not enter the contest on their own - their submissions must be made by parents/guardians.
b. Employees of KXAN-TV (the “Station”), its licensee, its corporate parents, subsidiaries, and affiliates, its advertising agencies, participating sponsors/promotional partners, are ineligible to participate or win. Subject to all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations. Void where prohibited.
c. Winners will be required to fill out contest eligibility forms and show proof of ID to obtain their prize.
3. PRIZES
a. Two (2) winners will be chosen (1 first place and 1 second place winner) by a combination of station judges (51%) and public voting (49%).
b. The winning photo will receive a $75 gift card to HEB. The second prize winner will receive a $25 gift card to HEB. Contest is not affiliated or endorsed by HEB.
b. All prizes or prize certificates may be picked up at the office of the Station at the address below. The winner will forfeit any prize or prize certificate not claimed within ten (10) days of winning. In the event that a prize or prize certificate is delivered to the winner, it will be with the prior written consent of the winner and therefore, winner assumes the risk of its loss. The Station is not responsible for the safe arrival of a prize or prize certificate.
c. There is no substitution, transfer, or cash equivalent for prizes. The prizes are expressly limited to the item(s) listed above and do not include taxes, gratuities or any other expenses. Other restrictions may apply.
4. WINNER SELECTION AND NOTIFICATION
a. All decisions made by KXAN-TV are final and binding.
b. Winners will be selected 51% by station judging input and 49% by online voting. Judging will be based on uniqueness, creativity, and style.
c. All submissions will be screened prior to the voting process. Approved submissions will be available for voting starting Monday, September 9th at 12pm and end on Sunday, September 15th at 11:59:59pm. Voters will view all photos and vote for their favorite. Registration is not required to vote.
d. The winner will be selected no later than Thursday, September 19th and notified via phone call or email.
5. CONDITIONS
a. Payments of all federal, state and local taxes are solely the responsibility of the winners. Winners may be required to sign an IRS Form W-9 or the equivalent.
b. By participating in the contest, participants agree to have their name, voice, or likeness used in any advertising or broadcasting material relating to this contest without additional financial or other compensation, and, where legal, to sign a publicity release confirming such consent prior to acceptance of the prize. The Website’s Terms of Service apply to any online portions of this Contest.
c. Prior to awarding any prize or prize certificate, the Station in its sole discretion may require contest winners (and their travel companions, if any) to sign a liability release, agreeing to hold the Station, its corporate licensee, its parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of each of them harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from the prize or participation in the contest.
d. The Station reserves the right to make changes in the rules of the contest, including the substitution of a prize or equivalent value, which will become effective upon announcement. If due to circumstances beyond the control of the Station, any competition or prize-related event is delayed, rescheduled, postponed or cancelled, the Station reserves the right, but not the obligation, to cancel or modify the contest and shall not be required to award a substitute prize.
e. Failure to comply with the contest rules or the Station’s website Terms of Service may result in an entrant’s disqualification solely at the discretion of the Station.
f. The Station is not responsible for typographical or other errors in the printing, the offering or the administration of the contest, or in the announcement of a prize.
